Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Policy
For the DEMI Publishing Pipeline interfaces and the DEMI Portal Builder
Status of this document
These are the terms currently in force. They apply to registrations made through the DEMI Publishing Pipeline interfaces and to the DEMI Portal Builder from 27 August 2026, and they replace all earlier terms and privacy statements published on this website.
They were written from how the service actually operates rather than adapted from a template, and they are published so that they can be read before use rather than after. They have been prepared to be settled by an Australian legal practitioner, and no practitioner has yet settled them. They will be amended where a practitioner advises amendment, and each amendment will be published here as a new numbered version with its date.
Where these terms are amended, the version in force at the time of a registration is the version that applies to it, as clause 12 provides.
The service is a prototype operated by a small company. We say so in clause 9 rather than imply a maturity it has not reached.
Nothing in this notice limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or under any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Clause 10.1 states that position and prevails over anything inconsistent with it.

Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Policy
Status of this document
This instrument has been prepared for AI Assisted ideas registration and development and for publishing industry. It is written from how the service actually operates rather than from a template, so that a reviewer can amend what is wrong rather than replace what is generic.
The DEMI concept is offered as an open design that others may replicate, and these terms are part of what is offered. Anyone adopting the design should have their own adviser settle their own terms; these are not a licence to copy the operator's legal position.
These terms apply to the DEMI Publishing Pipeline registration interfaces operated by UplitAU Pty Ltd, and to the DEMI Portal Builder made available through a third-party AI platform. By using either, you agree to them.
Terms and Conditions
Who we are, and what we do
UplitAU Pty Ltd (ABN 91 680 646 495) of Sydney, Australia operates the DEMI Publishing Pipeline. We refer to ourselves as “we” and to you as “you” or “the registrant”.
The service records that a particular file existed at a particular time. It produces a cryptographic fingerprint of your file, publishes an extract you choose, generates a structured statement of the ideas in that extract, and issues a permanent entry in a public register together with a certificate and a set of downloadable files.
What the service is not
This clause governs the rest of these terms. If any other clause appears to conflict with it, this clause prevails.
- We do not verify your identity. Nothing in the service confirms that you are who you say you are.
- We do not verify authorship or ownership. We record that a person submitted a file at a time. A person submitting work that is not theirs would produce a record that appears entirely valid.
- We do not create, register or confer copyright. Copyright in Australia arises automatically on creation and is not affected by registration with us.
- We are not a government body, a copyright office, or an institution with any official standing, and we hold no endorsement from any such body.
- We do not provide legal advice, and a registration is not a substitute for it.
- We make no representation that any court, tribunal or authority in any jurisdiction will give a registration any particular weight.
- We do not read, review, assess or approve the content of your work. It is never transmitted to us.
Every certificate, landing page and machine-readable record we issue carries the substance of this clause in its own terms.
Registration
3.1 How it works
Your file is read inside your own web browser and reduced to a SHA-256 fingerprint. The file is not uploaded, not transmitted to us, and no copy is retained by us at any point. When you close the browser tab, nothing of the file remains outside your own device.
You select an extract from your work. That extract, and the metadata you enter, are transmitted to us. A structured statement of the ideas in the extract — the Conceptual Core — is generated by an artificial intelligence system from the extract only.
3.2 Conditions you accept
Before payment you are shown, and must accept, the conditions of registration. Those conditions form part of this agreement. The version of the conditions you accepted, and the time you accepted them, are recorded with your registration so that the exact terms agreed can be reproduced later.
3.3 What you warrant
By registering you warrant that:
- you are the author of the work, or you are authorised by the author to register it;
- the work does not infringe the copyright, moral rights or other rights of any person;
- the work and its title are not unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, or in breach of any court order or law;
- the work does not contain personal information about another person that you are not entitled to publish; and
- you are at least 18 years of age.
You are responsible for what you register. Registering a work you did not write, or that infringes another person's rights, is your act and not ours.
3.4 Screening
We apply an automated check to the title only. We do not and cannot screen the content of a work, because the work is never transmitted to us. That check is limited and will not detect everything. It does not constitute approval of anything you register.
Payment
4.1 Card
Card payments are processed by a third-party payment provider that acts as merchant of record. That provider, not us, is the seller of record for the purposes of the card transaction and issues the tax invoice in its own name. We do not see, receive or store your card details.
4.2 Cryptocurrency
Where offered, payment may be made in Ethereum to a wallet we control. Cryptocurrency payments are irreversible. Once sent, a payment cannot be recalled by you or by us.
Valid is not the same as acceptable
A payment being technically valid is not the same as a payment we may accept. Where the institution through which we receive or convert a payment is not permitted to accept it — because of its source, its jurisdiction, or a direction that institution is under — we will not make a Registry entry, whatever the transaction record shows.
In that event no fee is retained by us for a service not provided.
4.3 Availability of payment methods
We may withdraw any payment method at any time, including in response to legal or regulatory advice. Withdrawal of one method does not affect registrations already made.
What is published
5.1 Always published
For every registration we publish: the registry code and reference, the title, the date, the cryptographic hashes, and the extract you selected.
5.2 The Conceptual Core
The Conceptual Core is a statement of the ideas in your work, published in a public register under our name. Where a registration is paid by a method that carries no identification of the payer, we supply the Conceptual Core to you but do not publish it. In that case it is not transmitted to the register at all.
This is not a reduction in what you receive. You receive the same files, the same evidence and the same certificate in every case, and you remain free to publish the Conceptual Core yourself, anywhere.
5.3 Permanence
A public register is intended to be permanent. Information you publish through it — including your name or pen name, the title of your work, and the extract you selected — should be treated as permanently public. Consider carefully what you place in an extract before you register.
Where a registration is paid on a public blockchain, the transaction is permanent and public by the nature of that ledger. Neither you nor we can alter or remove it.
Correction, withdrawal and voiding
6.1 What we can change
We can correct a field recorded wrongly, withdraw content from public view, or mark a registration void. Where we do, the previous position is retained in an amendment history that remains visible. We do not alter records silently.
6.2 What we do not do
We do not delete registrations. A record that disappeared from a register whose purpose is evidence would undermine the register itself, and anyone who relied on it is entitled to know what became of it.
6.3 What is always retained
In every case the file hash, the extract hash and the timestamp are retained. Verification therefore continues to work: a person holding the original file can still establish that it was registered, and when, even where the title and extract are no longer displayed.
6.4 Asking us to change something
You may ask us to correct or withdraw your own registration by contacting us. We will not unreasonably refuse. We may decline where the request would defeat the purpose of the register or where we are required to retain the record.
6.5 Requests by other people
If you believe a registration infringes your rights, is unlawful, or should not have been made, contact us with the registry code and the grounds. We will acknowledge, consider the request, and where appropriate take advice before acting. We may withdraw content from public view while a matter is being considered.
Intellectual property
7.1 Yours
You retain all rights in your work. We claim no ownership of, and no licence to exploit, anything you register beyond what is necessary to operate the service — namely, to publish the extract you selected and the record itself in the public register, and to make them available to readers and to automated systems that read the register.
7.2 Ours
The DEMI registry standard is underpinned by Australian Innovation Patents AU2018100999 and AU2019101249. The interfaces, the registry code format and the associated documentation are ours.
7.3 Open design
The DEMI concept is published openly and may be studied, replicated and built upon. We encourage it. A registry standard that only one organisation can operate is not a standard.
Nothing here grants rights in our patents, nor permits use of our name, the DEMI registry namespace or our registry codes in a way that suggests a registration was made through us when it was not. If you deploy the design yourself, do so under your own name, your own namespace and your own terms.
7.4 Third parties
Where this document or our published material refers to other organisations, standards or products, those references are descriptive and factual, made for comparison, and no affiliation or endorsement is claimed or implied. All names and marks remain the property of their owners. We developed this service independently. If any organisation considers a statement we have published about it to be inaccurate, tell us and we will correct it promptly.
Third-party platforms
The service produces a package intended for use with artificial intelligence systems, and we make available a portal builder through a third-party AI platform. We do not control those platforms. We do not guarantee their availability, their behaviour, their terms or their continued existence, and their use is subject to their own terms, not ours.
Anything you build on such a platform is a matter between you and that platform. The value of a registration does not depend on any of them: the record, the certificate and the evidence stand on their own.
Prototype status
The service is operating and has completed real registrations. It is nonetheless at an early stage, operated by a small organisation, and parts of it remain under review. We say so plainly rather than imply a maturity the service has not reached.
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service. Where we do, registrations already made remain in the register and the evidence remains verifiable.
Liability
10.1 Your rights under Australian law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our service comes with such a guarantee, and we fail it, you are entitled to the remedies that law provides.
10.2 Otherwise
Subject to clause 10.1, and to the extent permitted by law: we provide the service as it is; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the registration in question.
10.3 Matters outside our control
We are not liable for the acts of a payment provider, a blockchain network, an artificial intelligence platform, a hosting provider, or any other third party; nor for loss arising because you lost your original file, since we do not hold a copy and cannot supply one.
Refunds
The service is delivered immediately on payment. Where you have not received what you paid for — a registration was not completed, or the files were not produced — contact us and we will refund you. Where a registration was completed as described, a refund is not ordinarily available, because the service has been performed. This does not limit your rights under clause 10.1.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The version in force at the time of your registration is the version that applies to it, and the version you accepted is recorded with your registration.
Governing law and complaints
These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of that State have jurisdiction.
If you are unhappy with anything, contact us first. We would rather fix a problem than have one escalate.
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how UplitAU Pty Ltd handles personal information, consistently with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
The most important thing in this policy
Your manuscript is never uploaded to us. It is read inside your own browser and reduced to a fingerprint. We never receive it, never store it, and could not disclose it to anyone if we were asked to, because we do not have it.
What we do receive is the extract you choose, the details you type, and your email address. The extract, your name or pen name, and your title are published permanently in a public register. Decide what goes into an extract on that basis.
What we collect
| Information | How | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name or pen name | You enter it | Published with the registration |
| Title, description, language | You enter it | Published with the registration |
| The extract you select | You select it | Published; analysed to produce the Conceptual Core |
| Email address | You enter it | To identify your payment and to contact you about it |
| File name and file hash | Computed in your browser | Evidence; the hash is published |
| Payment reference | From the payment provider | Evidence of payment; published |
| Wallet address | From a blockchain payment | Inherent to the public ledger |
| Acceptance of conditions | You tick a box | Record of the terms you agreed and when |
We do not collect your card details. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. We do not build profiles of visitors.
What we do not collect
- Your manuscript or any part of it other than the extract you select.
- Your card number, expiry or security code.
- Your location, browsing history or behaviour across other websites.
- Sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act. Please do not include it in an extract.
What becomes public, and permanently
The public register is the point of the service, and it is intended to be permanent. The following are published and should be treated as permanently public: your name or pen name, the title, the date, the hashes, the extract you selected, and — in the circumstances described in clause 5.2 — the Conceptual Core.
Your email address is not published. Where a payment reference could identify you, we publish only the reference supplied by the payment provider.
Blockchain and the limits of erasure
Where a registration is paid on a public blockchain, the transaction — including the sending wallet address, the amount and the time — is recorded on a ledger that no person controls. It cannot be altered or erased by us, by you, or by anyone else.
This is a genuine limit on the right to have information corrected or removed, and we state it before you pay rather than afterwards. If that is unacceptable to you, use the card method, where no public ledger entry is created.
Who else receives information
| Recipient | What they receive | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Payment provider (card) | Your email and payment details, directly from you | Overseas |
| Cloud infrastructure provider | The registration record, for storage and delivery | Overseas |
| AI provider | The extract only, to generate the Conceptual Core | Overseas |
| Blockchain explorer service | A transaction hash, for verification | Overseas |
| Public blockchain | Wallet address, amount, time — if you pay that way | Distributed |
Some of these are located outside Australia, including in the United States. By using the service you acknowledge that your information may be disclosed to overseas recipients, and that we may not be able to ensure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles in the way an Australian recipient would.
We do not sell personal information. We do not disclose it for marketing.
Security
We hold little, which is the strongest protection we can offer. What we hold sits with a reputable infrastructure provider, protected in transit. Administrative functions require a credential verified on the server.
No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
Access, correction and retention
You may ask what we hold about you and we will tell you. You may ask us to correct it and we will, subject to the limits described: published register entries are corrected by amendment with the previous value retained, not by silent overwriting, and blockchain entries cannot be altered at all.
We keep registration records indefinitely, because a register of evidence that discarded its records would serve no purpose. Email addresses are kept for as long as needed to administer registrations and to meet our record-keeping obligations.
Children
The service is not offered to people under 18 and we ask that they do not use it. We are aware that registrations by or on behalf of children raise obligations we have not yet built for, and we have deliberately excluded that use rather than accept it without the necessary protections in place.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us and we will respond. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version is published at our website with its version and date.
